Tough Guy

I completed this race in 2007 which is held in Birmingham and is enormously good fun. When I told my clients and friends I suddenly had a group who wanted to take part in the 2008 version.

Each year a new theme is built into Tough Guy this ensures that it remains the world’s safest most dangerous taste of mental physical pain endurance toughest events. Tough Guy will always be a physically challenging, mentally demanding, fear inducing, visual spectacular. This would be a most demanding yet rewarding challenge.

Obstacles include barbed wire, rope climbs, underwater tunnels, bales of hay set on fire, and lots of water ponds and mud to trawl through. On top of all this the race is done on the last Sunday of every January so it can get a bit nippy!!

We had regular meet ups as a group and it was mainly fitness training and running to help prepare for the race, but two weeks before we did use a high wire course at Willen Lake help prepare us for the heights on unstable apparatus in a very cold temperature.

It was a great day out and the group did so well coping with everything that the tough guy race threw at them.
