The 1st XI have been a highly competitive side within the MBBO Regional 1st XI League for a number of years and consistently one of the top teams in Buckinghamshire. Their captain Russell Brazier has been in charge of the side for two seasons and his team narrowly missed out on promotion last year. This season has seen the 1st XI win the Buckinghamshire County Cup.
I have been involved with the fitness training of the Milton Keynes Hockey Club now since 2006. I was invited to help the men’s first team fitness and help prepare them for their upcoming season by Russell Brazier. As I got to know the team I became their sports therapist and many of them regularly come to my clinic for therapy or sports massages. I now consider myself to be an ‘honorary’ member of the team and club as I continue to work with them in a fitness and therapy capacity.
Sessions will be specific to the team and will include
Monitored Fitness assessments
Speed drills
Circuit training
Long runs
Running drills
Kettlebell and boxing circuits
Abdominal and core focus

“Simon has been fantastic for the club. He prepares excellent sessions and executes them really well. He has the ability to keep every person working up to and beyond their best and they know that he won’t accept anything less than 100%. Simon’s words of encouragement really help when the going gets tough and he has been a massive factor in why the Men’s first team have done so well over the last two seasons. When it comes to the last 15-20 mins of a game it is so obvious now that our team have a far superior fitness level to their opponents. We have already made plans to bring Simon in again for 2009-2010 season however this time we are going to bring him in two months earlier than usual… We already know what the results will be… an even fitter, faster, stronger team!!”
